That's one major change that has happened in the convention scene since i started 5 years ago.

what started as common practice of "free hugs" and "hugs for pocky" has escalated to full out promiscuity. Sure it's funny to have a sign that says "will F@CK for ramen" but the scary part is PEOPLE ACTUALLY DO IT! Hence why signs are pretty much banned at every con I go to.

EXCEPT YOUMACON.... I was VERY surprised to see it still allowed there, and it was a welcomed sight after not seeing such con-antics in quite some years.
I think my favorite sign was something written on a slab of cardboard "WILL WORK FOR MEGAMAN LEGENDS 3" >w<

The signs aren't allowed in my city, either. So, we wear buttons! BUTTONS WILL WIN! YOU CANNOT BAN THE BUTTONS! X3 I have one that says "Free hugs".

@speedracerdude511; I don't understand if you are being serious, so if you are, then the answers are simple. If not...uh well you got an answer anyways.

Yaoi = Guy/Guy
Yuri = Girl/Girl
Hetero = Guy/Girl

Plain & Simple.

It's more of a joke, Saying-

"I love ____ so much i'll do anything for it. ANYTHING."

Unless you meant that as a joke. Then this is awkward....

Nathan Sensei tought me well in the arts of social awkwardness.

At the Otakuton from Montréal (Canada), those kind of sings are still "legals", because the security people doesn't saw them... or they ask what the person offer on his/her sign! But, last year, I was dressed as a cat-lady-maid. I was in the "free hugs" section. I was giving hugs with my cute little hug's sign, until a guy came, gave me a hug, and tried to hump me. I was truly scared :(. So much that I decide to NEVER wear my maid costume! So... Yep. I wish the Montreal's convention had better security dudes. x)

I kinda hate it when things go as far as that :( I LOVE going around cons with a free hugs sign and haven't been to a no-signs-allowed one yet, but I think it'd make me pretty sad. Strangely some weird people over here do now consider the free hugs sign outside of cons to be subtle prostitution and link it with cosplayers, so some Naruto cosplayers in town nearly got arrested XD jeeeez people overreact!

She'll Yuri for....FREE........*dies of nosebleed*

You inspired me to Make a sign, and I mentioned you in the description. [link]

I set it up as a print, so people can buy it as a mug. I have never been to a con, but i doubt a person can get in trouble for a novelty mug they just happen to carry and flash around a lot, performing acts listed on said mug and being generously given things that just happens to be on said mug as well.

loopholes are great.
AceroTiburon Featured By Owner Mar 14, 2012  Hobbyist General Artist
as cheap as ramen is, that's practically free XD
I doubt anyone would find offence to it, I actually think it's rather amusing >w<

If i go to this local anime con in September, i am so buying a giant thing of ramen from saveway and just randomly chucking packs into the crowd. Or carry it in a see through net backsack to tease the poor starving convention goers. I wonder if fishing poles are allowed or not.

I live in Kentucky, and anime cons are still fairly new, so there will be people just as green to cons as me. If you think you've seen weird things at the cons you've been to, just think about hillbillies + anime + convention. In college I had a roommate who looked like mr. bean, talked like jed clampett and knew everything there was to know about FLCL, Bleach and Cowboy Bebop. I can't wait to see what unholy abominations there is to see if I go to the con.

-sign says, "I'm stupid"-
StarCentury Featured By Owner Dec 24, 2011
HAHA, clever clever! :XD: I think I might have seen a few signs like that at New York Comic Con a few months ago which made me do a double take and go WTF?! :laughing:
KawaiiPanda247 Featured By Owner Dec 23, 2011  Hobbyist General Artist
-.- It sucked an LA AX. Even if a sign was part of your costume you weren't allowed to have it.
DTJB Featured By Owner Dec 22, 2011  Hobbyist Digital Artist
I once stood in a reg line with a cheaply made sign that said "Hugs for Drugs". I got some hugs, none of them were deserving of any drugs though. Naturally sign got taken away.

I discovered this rule the hard way.
A couple years ago when I went to Megacon in Florida, they still had signs like that. I didn't know they're banning signs now.
CodyMau Featured By Owner Dec 17, 2011  Hobbyist Photographer
Some people actually follow through on those insane signs? Well... I suppose for the right individuals. Shallow conditions are what they are. At least in this one Mr. Convention Patrol is doing his job properly.

It was insane the amount of signs at Youmacon! I still can't believe I didn't see you there.(a little late, no?) I thought for sure those were banned from the con, but I guess not...?

My friend went as Roxas (Or Boxas, because she drew his face on a box, put said box on her head) and as walking around at Anime Detor last year. She had a sign that said "Free Hugs?" it was cute :3
FallonShadow Featured By Owner Dec 13, 2011  Hobbyist Artist
I miss the signs...they were fun. First "free" got banned cause it alluded to monetary value, and then just not at all ]: Still being humped by a female L cosplayer was hilarious...

Dude, I really want a shirt with "will F@CK for ramen" on it now.
RouletteKitten Featured By Owner Dec 11, 2011  Hobbyist General Artist
It's not a sign it is a shirt... Oh, the possibilities. Why has no one thought of that yet?
AceroTiburon Featured By Owner Dec 11, 2011  Hobbyist General Artist
XD i'd love to see the reaction to that
taconacho Featured By Owner Dec 9, 2011
I'm glad about the signs things honestly, some people are frikkin creepers!! It's annoying enough to have people run up to you and either hug the hell out of you randomly or awkwardly ask if they can have a hug >_>" I don't get the whole hugging and kissing tradition crap but god do i know im never ever going to a con again for that -__-"
AceroTiburon Featured By Owner Dec 11, 2011  Hobbyist General Artist
i agree.

the line of creepy-ness has been crossed with that sort of stuff
